Nature is springing

The colony of mayapples (Podophyllum peltatum) has emerged along with the common blue violet (Viola sororia). A white flower will bloom under the umbrella shaped leaf of the mayapple soon and will ripen into a fruit during summer. The common violet is a host plant for a several fritillary butterfly species.
